Celebrating 60 Years Through Digital Innovation

Posted in: Community Events, Local and civic engagement

The University of Bath is proud to have once again supported the Bath Digital Festival, continuing a long-standing sponsorship that reflects its commitment to innovation, collaboration and community engagement. This year is particularly significant, as the University has expanded its role to become an official partner throughout its 60th anniversary year.

A highlight of this year’s Festival programme was the University’s takeover of the Festival showcase on Wednesday 20 May. Hosted at Newark Works in central Bath, the event featured 12 research projects alongside a student 'Makerspace' group, transforming the space into a vibrant hub of interactive, visual demonstrations. Guests were invited to explore cutting-edge technologies and discover how University research is being applied in practical, real-world contexts.

The day was further enhanced by a visit from University of Bath honorary graduate, transformational global leader and innovative technologist Jacky Wright. During her time at the showcase, Jacky met with researchers and students, gaining insight into their work and the innovative ideas being developed within the University community.

The showcase created valuable opportunities for participating researchers and students to connect with local organisations and industry professionals. Several attendees made new contacts that will support future collaborations and open up new ways of applying their research.

We are extremely grateful to everyone involved. By engaging with the festival, our community helps break down barriers between research, industry and the public, strengthening partnerships and highlighting the real-world impact of University work.
