Sustainability podcast: the power of your student voice

Posted in: Student action

In a recent podcast, a panel of keen students shared their experiences in taking sustainability action and showcased how you can get involved too.

The standout theme of the discussion was the power of the student voice in driving change at Bath. Every student brings new energy, creativity, and unique perspectives that can help shape Bath’s sustainable culture and make a lasting difference.

Hosted by Alice Lowe from Bath’s Sustainability team, the discussion featured students from a range of disciplines:

  • Angelica Reyes, final year Politics and International Relations student and a Climate Champion
  • Xandi Drysdale, second year Biochemistry student and chair of People and Planet society
  • Lydia Hudson, PhD student in nature-based solutions and climate justice, and Lab Sustainability Champion

Together, they explored the many ways students can drive meaningful sustainability action on campus and beyond. They shared how every student has the opportunity to make a difference and that all small actions add up and can start a snowball effect. Here is a snippet of the top tips discussed:

  • get involved in a sustainably minded society and meet like-minded people
  • use your voice, talk to your lecturers, friends, and family to inspire collective action

Take a listen to the podcast and get involved with our student community tackling the climate crisis and influencing change at Bath.
