The Swedes add an 18th SDG

As if 17 global goals were not enough, along comes an 18th, although it is not from the UN.  Rather, it's from a Swedish band, The Knife, which, unsurprisingly, I had not heard of.  You can listen to them here; ABBA they ain't, which will be a relief / disappointment according to taste.

The band has produced a cartoon to promote its new goal: Eliminate Extreme Wealth.

This will be popular as an idea, although the UN seems unlikely to adopt it.  The cartoon is certainly witty, in that restrained Swedish way, and it proposes three main strategies to realise the goal.  These are education, confiscation, and tree planting: an unlikely, but compelling combination.  I looked for innovative pedagogies in all this, but what is proposed is relentlessly traditional: the extreme rich, it seems will be sat down and will rote learn the error of their ways.  I fear it will not be a winning strategy.

I was amused (though you may not) to see that the advert on the official video for Full of Fire  was for the financial services industry and focused on equity release.  Sub-ironic, I suppose.
