This will be the last post on my University of Bath blog. I've been posting since June 10th 2009 but, 15 years and 2499 posts later, I really have to close it down if I'm to realise my 2010 retirement ambition which was to read more than I write – a project that hasn't been going too well lately. The advent of a new UK government is a good place to stop as otherwise I'd be tempted to keep on scribbling.
My first posts were about the South west Learning for Sustainability Coalition of blessed memory, and Judging the Effectiveness of a Sustainable School which seems to have gone out of fashion. My last two (not counting this one) were about Technocratic Governance and Democracy and the The Education System and Social Norms and Values. The difference between these topics is considerable and the range exemplifies the sort of things I have written about over the years.
All my posts will remain on the University system for a while and so anyone can sample the detail. Not that anyone likely will. I wrote this blog for me and only rarely tried to promote it. It acted as a kind of diary in the spirit of Gwendolen Fairfax. I didn't expect anyone to read it, but some kind souls did, sometimes leaving a comment or too. I was grateful for that feedback.
There remains much to write about, but that's for someone else. Ciao.

Thanks for all your amazing blogs Bill - I've shared them so many times to create change. I'll miss them! So grateful for your thought leadership over so many years
Good grief, glad I caught this one! Many thanks for all your blog posts Bill. Over the years, I have come to value these as a source (in no particular order) of wisdom, information, alternative perspectives and amusement. I will miss them for sure but also wonder where all those thoughts will go now...
Bill. Totally understand and feel sad I will not be able to read your thoughts in a public forum. They are always pertinent and all too often a sobering look at the world beyond the avenues of alarmism and simplistic thinking that dominate our policy-making of all things environmental (at all levels).
There is much to write about and with your exit other bloggers and authors will have big shoes to fill. I know I started my own blog because of your encouragement. Thank you for being such a rational leader in all our efforts to change the world. Ciao.
