Telehealth: What is it, what it can do and where is it going?

Posted in: HealthResSW

I am pleased to say that the BIME/PBSPCRC conference on Friday was a success with provoking talks from Department of Health on dementia strategy and whole system demonstrators, from BIME on their SMART homes, Swindon PCT on their telehealth system for COPD and BANES PCT and LA, providing a social care perspective on joint telehealth working.  Please see below for some pictures of the day.

We had a full range of delegates from Consortia PCTs especially Wiltshire and from elsewhere such as Sandwell PCT and Birmingham Trusts, related agencies such as Nottingham City Council, the Welsh Assembly plus delegates from Universities around the country and industry and social housing.

We learnt that although home based technology was established in some parts, truly mobile research needed further attention.  Also that telehealth and telecare is relatively easy compared to the service delivery aspects!  We are working now with researchers on the next stage, making the technology truly appealing to users, carers and commissioners,
