Today is our final spotlight for Disability History Month, and we can't believe it's come so quickly! For this last week, we're sharing a special blog called 'My Blurred World' written by Elin Williams, a young Welsh blogger who initially started the blog as a focal point for fashion, but has since expanded into raising awareness of vision impairment and in particular, her experiences with her degenerative eye condition, retinitis pigmentosa.

Elin's work through her blog and sharing her passions for music, beauty and fashion through the lens of her disability and how this affects her has been commended by various prestigious institutions - including the BBC when she featured on their list of inspiring and influential women of 2020! In her blog, Elin covers everything from the emotional impact of losing her eyesight, to confidence, to the need for accessibility and inclusion in the beauty and fashion industries. She has been interviewed by magazines and online news outlets like able and disability talk, speaking in depth about what her ambitions were in starting her blog back in 2015 and her success in challenging stigmas around people with disabilities related to sight.

Elin is a standout figure in raising awareness of the difficulties faced by disabled people in day-to-day activities and also in spaces like the arts, writing and media where there are still barriers to enjoyment. Through her writing she has connected thousands of young people and encouraged a welcoming, inclusive environment where those experiencing similar disabilities can share their thoughts and make new friends. We highly recommend checking out Elin's blog to read more about her life and achievements, and ways allies can show solidarity!
