Time for Change: Action Not Words

The theme for Black History Month 2022 is 'Time for Change: Action Not Words'. As the official Black History Month Editorial team writes: 'To ensure real change, we need real support from our allies. It’s time to reset your mindset and support us with actions, not words'. If we want to see real, lasting institutional change we must take an anti-racist stance and seek to educate ourselves - and those around us - on the everyday challenges the Black community faces, the history of these challenges and what actions can be taken to help.

Every Friday throughout October, The Culture & Inclusion (C&I) team will be showcasing podcasts aimed at raising awareness of the difficulties and injustices of racism and its history; how it impacts the Black community, how far we still need to go to eliminate racism and what allies can do to show solidarity. We hope that these podcasts not only challenge you to think differently and approach conversations about racism more confidently, but also uplift brilliant Black voices and celebrate our everyday joys and wins.

In this series, Reni continues the discussion started in her bestselling debut novel Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race and dissects the last few decades of anti-racist activism alongside key voices from the movement. The podcast is 9 episodes long and well worth a listen - the only downside is that you'll be wishing there was more!
