Bath’s new exchange and visiting students at the Semester two induction day.

With the start of a new semester comes new exchange and visiting students to the University of Bath. I was delighted to join my Mobility team colleagues in welcoming our new international students to campus on Friday 31st January 2025.

This semester we are joined by 103 exchange students from 32 of our international partner universities, representing 26 nationalities – with students from all over the world, from Argentina to Hong Kong, Cambodia to Canada and many countries in between!

Our exchange and visiting students this semester come from 26 countries.

Our new students joined us for an induction event, where they completed their registration, received a welcome gift and got the opportunity to meet fellow members of their exchange cohort. The induction session was a resounding success, offering our new exchange and visiting students an engaging introduction to university life at Bath.

After getting the chance to break the ice with each other over a coffee, the International Mobility team kicked-off a series of presentations with an overview of what to expect during their time at Bath and how to make the most of their exchange. Several presentations followed from a range of our student services teams, including Ann Linfield, the International Student Experience Project Coordinator; Benjamin Orford Thompson, Students’ Union Community Sabbatical Officer; Annette Goddard, Skills Development Coordinator; and Malcolm Skene, Academic Skills Course Leader, and Jeremy Sanders, Teaching Fellow, from the Skills Centre. The event provided a platform for students to gain valuable insights into their upcoming journey and the support they can expect to receive at Bath. The session encouraged students to ask questions and voice their queries, which they certainly did!

On behalf of the whole International Mobility team, we hope that our exchange and visiting students have a fulfilling experience at Bath, both academically and personally. Their contributions will enhance the university’s community in numerous ways, fostering cultural exchange and mutual learning. We sincerely hope that the induction is the beginning of what promises to be an enriching chapter for all involved.

To all our exchange and visiting students we wish you a successful and inspiring experience ahead!
