University Gender Identity Policy and resources

Posted in: LGBTQ, News

As we draw to the end of 2022, the Kaleidoscope committee would like to share with our members some significant updates from our colleagues in HR and Student Support regarding  the University's commitment, principles and approach for ensuring trans and non-binary equality within our community at Bath.

In September, the University’s Gender Identity Policy and Guidelines (bath.ac.uk) were published. This policy applies to all students and staff at the university, as well as applicants, alumni, and third parties who come into contact with the university. There is also a supplementary guide to provide staff (e.g. managers, support staff) with information, advice, and guidance when supporting a trans or non-binary colleague/student.

In addition to the above, HR just launched a new Gender Identity Resources for Staff and Students (bath.ac.uk) webpage. This guide includes a list of additional resources and support available for staff and students in line with the Gender Identity Policy.

We hope our members find the new policy, guidance, and resources helpful, and encourage you to share these with colleagues and peers across the institution.

If you have any queries, concerns, or suggestions about the policy and guidance, then please contact Peter Eley (Deputy Director - HR): pje25@bath.ac.uk or Abi Phillips (Deputy Director - Culture & Inclusion): al918@bath.ac.uk

Finally, we want to wish all Kaleidoscope members a restful and happy winter break, and we cannot wait to see you at an event in 2023!
