CSCT started a Twitter competition in December, for PhD students and academics across the globe to decribe their research in a limerick!
Here is what SAMBa students came up with...
Matt D - ODE to Matt P
For many long years I have sought
the solution to Neutron Transport.
I now have this vision
that scatter and fission
have both probability nought.
Hayley Wragg -
I model WiFi propagation,
To improve global communication,
Model waves using lines,
It takes much less time,
Computing millions of simulations.
Emma Horton -
Last year I started a mission
To research nuclear fission
So far we have shown
An eigenvalue is known
For the system with a boundary condition.
Cameron Smith -
You can model a system as solo,
Using macro, meso or micro,
But it is much better, To join them together,
Making your code so rapido.
Owen Pembery -
I like to write good poetry
And exposit math'matically
In the next week or two
I'll attempt to pursue
A rhyme that beats CSCT
Hayley Wragg -
Why is my Internet so slow?
There must be a way to know,
The signal strength,
At a given length,
To avoid space that is so low.It is a problem across the nation,
Of poor Internet communication,
So I use maths too,
Predict close to true,
Levels of wifi attenuation.By modeling WiFi propagation,
We can improve global communication,
Model waves using lines,
It takes much less time,
Computing millions of simulations. In years when connection is fast,
Don’t forget this poem you passed,
The result of the code,
And what it showed,
will allow your memes to blast.
