As I prepare to leave New Zealand and head into my final year at university, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey I've had over the past year. Living in this beautiful country and being part of Harbour Sport has been an experience filled with growth and unforgettable memories. Leaving is bittersweet, but I carry with it experiences and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Embracing Kiwi Life

New Zealand is a land of breathtaking landscapes and welcoming people. From the moment I arrived, Harbour sport made me feel at home and let all 6 of us explore all the different areas of the company at our own pace. Every weekend was an adventure, exploring new places, hiking trails, and immersing ourselves in the unique Kiwi culture.

Living in New Zealand has taught me the value of work-life balance and the importance of community. Kiwis have a remarkable way of combining hard work with a love for the outdoors. Whether it was a casual barbecue with friends, a local market visit, or a weekend road trip, I felt a deep sense of belonging and contentment.

Harbour Sport: A Year of Impact and Growth

Traveling by myself to the other side of the world was a scary concept, however I knew it was something that I had to do. Being a part of this organization allowed me to contribute to meaningful projects within which I can use my knowledge to assist me in my final year dissertation and I have been able to witness the positive impact of sports on people's lives empowering my thoughts on my future career.

Applying Skills and Knowledge

The practical skills and knowledge I've gained will be immensely valuable in my academic and professional journey. Event planning, School engagement and an entrance into the disability world are just a few areas where I feel more competent and prepared. I am excited to apply these skills to my university projects and future endeavors, knowing that they will set me apart and help me succeed.

Cherishing Memories

While leaving New Zealand is difficult, I am grateful for every moment spent here. The friendships I've formed, the beautiful places I've visited, and the sense of community I've experienced will always hold a special place in my heart. I look forward to keeping in touch with my Harbour Sport colleagues and returning to New Zealand in the future to reconnect with the place that has given me so much.

Conclusion

Leaving New Zealand and Harbour Sport marks the end of a remarkable chapter in my life, but it also signals the beginning of an exciting new one. As I step into my final year at university and everything that comes with it, I do so with a deep appreciation for the experiences and opportunities I've had. New Zealand and Harbour Sport have shaped me in ways I never imagined. I have changed for the better.

Thank you, New Zealand, for an unforgettable year. And thank you, Harbour Sport, for being a pivotal part of my journey. Until we meet again, kia ora and farewell.
