On 25 and 26 September 2019, the NextGen Project Steering Board (PSB) meeting was held in Basel, Switzerland. The meeting was organized by the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (FHNW), one of the leading universities of applied science in Switzerland. From University of Bath, Professor Jan Hofman, Dr Jungeun Kim, Department of Chemical Engineering, and Jessica Lloyd-Evans, Institute for Policy Research, participated in the PSB meeting. The PSB meeting aimed to provide all partners with an opportunity to become informed an overview of the NextGen project progress and the overall NextGen approach.

During the meeting, we engaged with partners in work package workshops and discussed administrative issues via a formal PSB session. There was a poster presentation session that presents the progress of each demonstration case as the NextGen project focuses on demonstrating circular economy solutions for water, energy and materials in ten large-scale cases around Europe. WIRC collaborates with YTL Developments on one of the demonstration sites Filton Airfield, Bristol. We presented a concept in water reuse, aims for reducing clean water consumption by conducting rainwater harvesting from Brabazon Hangar in Filton Airfield.

Finally, the PSB meeting was concluded with a formal PSB group discussion. Four groups focused on validation of water circular technologies, the contribution of the NextGen solutions to the circular economy, policy development, and potential of NextGen technologies for other industries/applications. This was a great opportunity to interact with other site representatives/partners and understand their activities and technologies.
