Network Chairs’ meeting with the VC

Posted in: General information

Earlier this week the Chairs of both women’s networks at the University met with the Vice-Chancellor to share some of the issues raised by our members. The following were the main discussion points:

• How to support career progression for staff in the MSA and TE job families – the Reward team in HR are carrying out a project in this area and it was suggested that the networks could be a useful consultation mechanism for the project

• Challenges around returning from parental leave – discussed whether colleagues returning from parental leave could be offered support from the internal coaching network.

• Period poverty – there is a pilot currently underway to provide free sanitary products in toilets in a number of buildings. The VC agreed it would be useful for the project lead to share details with the networks.

• Lack of staff only spaces with food provision – the VC agreed to raise this again with the campus services team now that working patterns have settled down post-COVID to see if there are spaces that could be opened up.

The Vice-Chancellor took a number of actions to follow up with colleagues in HR and we will keep you updated as we hear more.
