Polden development update

Posted in: Polden

Welcome to the eleventh monthly update with news to keep you informed on the new Polden Student Accommodation project.

November has been yet another very busy month, with concrete frame to the last block nearing completion and work now well-underway on the internal fit-out.

The first two blocks are now sufficiently progressed to allow one of the two Tower Cranes to be dismantled.  This will be taking place towards the end of December.  The build team continue to liaise with all relevant university departments on all deliveries expected on the campus to minimise disruption as much as possible.

The appearance of the first and second buildings is changing practically on a daily basis; a significant number of windows are now installed and we are about to commence setting out of our cladding system.

Internally the bedrooms are now taking shape, with plasterboard works progressing well and mechanical and electrical installations moving ahead of this.  Carpenters will also be starting work on the internal joinery after Christmas. The forthcoming month will see the pace of construction works increase.  You will see significant changes to the façade of the buildings and internally more and more bedrooms will be formed.

The build team would like to remind staff and students that they appreciate all your patience and understanding whilst the construction work is ongoing, and that they continue to work closely with the University Estates, AHS, and Security teams to minimise disruption as much as possible.
