The University of Bath's Black Students’ Network (BSN) offers a range of events, resources and opportunities designed to:
- create spaces for community, connection and peer support
- support student wellbeing
- enhance personal and career development
The BSN is led by Student Support’s Social Interventions Lead, Hannah Moore, and a team of paid student ambassadors who work together to shape and deliver the Network. Our ambassadors play a key role in everything we do, from identifying student needs and generating ideas to planning events, creating resources and developing communications.
After saying goodbye to all but one of last year’s ambassadors (who are now enjoying placement years and graduate life) we are excited to welcome 3 new ambassadors to our team this year, and of course to welcome back Taofeeqah. We hope you enjoy getting to know us all through this blog and look forward to meeting many of you at our upcoming events.
Meet Claresta (she/her)
Hi! My name is Claresta Adetogun. I study Accounting and Finance and I'm from South London! I love music, especially singing - I'm a part of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain 18-25) and I have an interest in teaching younger pupils. I'm really excited to be a part of the Black Students' Network this year. Please don't feel afraid to talk to me and attend our events!
Meet Melissa (she/her)
Hi, I’m Melissa, a final-year Management and Marketing student. Outside of my course, I enjoy going to the gym and trying different sports. I also love meeting up with friends and trying new restaurants! I’m very excited to be working as a Black Students' Network Ambassador this year and look forward to creating an inclusive, fun and supportive environment for students. Can’t wait to meet everyone at the upcoming events!
Meet Taofeeqah (she/her)
Hi, I'm Taofeeqah, and I'm a third-year Chemical Engineering undergraduate student at Bath. It’s my second year being an Ambassador with the Black Students’ Network and I am so excited to be back! I will be running the UG monthly meets and I am so eager to get to know everyone. I think the idea of a place where students can come and feel a sense of belonging is amazing, and I feel incredibly proud to be a Student Ambassador who can contribute this year. I’m super crafty, and love to get involved in loads of things on campus. My main hobbies are crochet, sewing, guitar, and finding any and all excuses to chat to people. I’m on a five year integrated master’s course here at Bath (so quite a while) and am genuinely really grateful to spend my time here supporting and being a part of the Black Students’ Network 🙂
Meet Chantelle (she/her)
Hi, I'm Chantelle, and I'm a third-year Natural Sciences student at Bath. I'm really looking forward to working with the Black Students' Network this year; I know how much it matters to have a space where you feel represented, and I'm proud to be a part of that. I enjoy making things, from clothes to mugs to cakes (with varying levels of success). You'll often find me with my headphones in discovering new artists so share any recommendations!
Meet Hannah (she/her)
Hi, I'm Hannah and I manage Student Support's wellbeing groups and networks including the BSN. I have a BA in International Development and an MSc in Social Work. My role at the University focuses on helping students find community and enhance their wellbeing through groups and activities that connect them with similar lived experiences and interests. I love being part of the BSN team, working alongside our student ambassadors to deliver events, strengthen our community and drive the changes that students tell us they want to see. When I'm not at work I'm usually outside - running, swimming, and seeking out some sunshine. Always with a good playlist. I really hope you’ll enjoy our BSN events this year.
