Bath Third Sector Group calls for new Trustees

Posted in: Local and civic engagement

Bath Third Sector Group - 3SG - is an independent membership network supporting the charity, social enterprise, faith and voluntary sector operating in Bath and North East Somerset which aims to raise the profile of charities, provide them with support and give them a chance to influence local strategic decision making.

Over the past year, the University has worked closely with Bath 3SG on a number of projects, including the development of training for charities trying to adapt to work in the pandemic, the delivery of online learning modules for charity staff, joint communications campaigns and connecting students volunteers to local charities.

Now our staff have an opportunity to get involved with Bath 3SG, as the organisation is on the lookout for new Trustees.

3SG is governed by its member organisations, which means that its ten Trustees are comprised entirely of senior representatives from the 129 charities, community groups and social enterprises working in BaNES that are members of 3SG.

Janet Dabbs (Age UK BaNES) and Les Redwood (Citizens Advice BaNES) are leaving their respective roles which means they can no longer be Trustees of 3SG. Rosie Phillips (DHI) is standing down as a Trustee at the organisation's AGM on 17th June which means there are three new exciting opportunities to get involved.

The Trustee role description is available to read here. The role is suitable for anybody in a senior leadership position within a 3rd sector organisation that is a member of Bath 3SG. You must be able to attend six Trustee meetings a year plus ad hoc support with the 3SG Director and replying to regular group email conversations.

To apply please email contact@3sg.org.uk with a short statement of a maximum of 200 words on why you want to be a trustee of 3SG and what experience you can bring. If you are a member of the University community and decide you wish to apply, please do reach out to us as we would like to support you with your application.

All applications will be treated in confidence and the deadline for submissions is midday on 14th June and results will be announced at the Bath 3SG AGM on 17th June.
