We're Bath Life award finalists!

Posted in: Local and civic engagement

We are thrilled that the University of Bath has been shortlisted in the 2021 Bath Life Awards civic category. This category recognises the organisations that have made a contribution to Bath over the last year, improving the local community.

In our application, we outlined our work to develop a Civic University Agreement, and our new local engagement strategy. We also highlighted how these have been 'lived' in reality - through our contribution to the community during the pandemic as we made PPE for frontline workers, supported local groups through volunteering and by providing expertise and training, and by using University accommodation to house hospital staff isolating from their families between shifts.

We outlined our ongoing commitment to the local community and how through our civic work we're addressing policies and procedures within the University to allow us to be the best neighbours we can be.

We also drew attention to our existing and developing local collaborations, such as Our Shared Future - our collaboration with Bath and North East Somerset Council, our contribution to the Economic Recovery and Renewal Board, to Bath Unlimited, and our involvement in many other community initiatives through our staff and students.

In the shortlist for this award, we're joined by fantastic organisations from across our community, demonstrating the strength of local civic activity and the collective power we all have to positively impact our local area. We're really excited to be included in this group, and look forward to learning more about the many innovative and exciting contributions that have been made during the awards ceremony in September.
