Calling all conservation enthusiasts

Posted in: Local and civic engagement, Our Shared Future

We have been working in partnership local organisations on the 'Somer Valley Rediscovered' project for a few years, working to increase nature-connectivity, wellbeing and active travel in the Somer Valley area.

Somer Valley Rediscovered was established in 2020 as a green infrastructure partnership project led by Bath & North East Somerset Council, Wessex Water, Natural England and University of Bath. The project has dual aims of improving biodiversity whilst better-connecting communities to their local greenspaces and landscapes.

The project is now starting to recruit conservation volunteers and is keen to hear from any individuals who might be interested in getting involved in conservation projects in the Somer Valley area (Peasedown, Radstock, Midsomer, Westfield and Paulton).

Getting involved in this project will put you in a position to actively save local habitats. You'll get hands-on experience of habitat management and the chance to learn so much about what lives in our local area. If you're not sure whether or not its for you, there are a number of taster sessions planned over the next few months where you can give it a try and see!

If you want to get involved, please contact the Somer Valley Volunteer Coordinator by email, or call 01225 477593.

UPCOMING TASTER SESSION:
13th December at Midsomer Town Park
11am - 2:30pm
Contact the volunteer coordinator to register
