Are you a University of Bath academic or professional services staff member looking to make a meaningful contribution to civic life in our city? There are just a few days left to apply to become a Director (University of Bath Representative) on the board of the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution (BRLSI) — a remarkable opportunity to shape local public engagement in science, literature, and the arts.
BRLSI is a long-established independent charitable organisation based on Queen Square in Bath, delivering a vibrant programme of over 120 public talks each year and curating exhibitions from its extensive museum collection of around 150,000 natural history, geological, and ethnographic objects. As a Director, you will join the Board for an initial three-year term from January 2026, contributing to governance, strategic direction and helping deepen community engagement across Bath and beyond.
Applications are welcome from staff at any stage in their career, with particular encouragement for candidates with experience in sciences, languages, cultural heritage, budget management, digital humanities, or work with underserved communities. The role is voluntary and unpaid, though expenses are reimbursed, and a full induction is provided.
Don’t miss the deadline: send a short statement of interest (less than 400 words) to vp-externalrelations@bath.ac.uk by 9 January 2026 if you’d like to help steer this historic and dynamic civic institution into the future.
