I have been re-reading (after quite a gap) a still rather stimulating HMI curriculum working paper on environmental education from June 1979 – about which much more later. The following text is by way of preface to the document:
This publication is intended to stimulate professional discussion. The views expressed are those of the authors and not necessarily of the Inspectorate as a whole or of the Department of Education and Science. Nothing said is to be construed as implying Government commitment to the provision of additional resources.
Or, it might have more honestly added, " ... to the provision of environmental education." Pity.
