ECER ESE 1

Yesterday's presentations in the first Symposium session were:

Education for Sustainable Development in School Contexts – Transformations and Translations

Katrine Dahl Madsen (University of Aarhus)

Research Priorities for Environmental Education in the UK, Europe and beyond

Stephen Gough & Elsa Lee (University of Bath)

Sustainable Development in Educational Practice – Possibilities and Restraints

Johann Öhman (Örebro University)

ESD in an East African context

Per Sund (Mälardalen University)

This was a good start to the new network and the presentations gave rise to considerable debate.  It built on a previous session in the Health Education network where there were two German presentations.  I had to have (a terrible) lunch with 5 Germans in order fully to explore what they'd said.  I learned a lot particularly about HE in Germany.  They were disdainful at our fixation with league tables. Odd, I thought, in a country so football mad.
