I heard the other day of a school Headteacher who was still claiming to have green flag status even though the award was beyond the time limit, and had not been renewed. His reasoning was that as his school had had the award, and clearly was still worth a green flag, there was no need to pay good money to have someone else confirm this. It was an enterprising approach which he was using in other contexts as well. Enterprising, perhaps, but what about the ethics being taught to his youngsters?
Sadly for him, but happily for the rest of us, this is not a game Ofsted will play.
