For balance, it seems right to include the manicfesto (sic) of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party in this scrutiny. The OMRLP has been around longer than UKIP, and like UKIP, has never managed to win a seat at a general election – up to now. 2015 could be the year when it all changes for both parties, although that may prove a long shot for the OMs as they've never quite been the same since Screaming Lord Such died. However, the Loonies are certainly putting forward a strong suit of proposals. I have picked out the most pertinent to the interests of this blog:
- All University Tuition fees for women would be free as we are strong believers in Female intuition. Due (sic) to gender equality laws we would include males as well.
- Parliament will be relocated to Wormwood Scrubs, reducing the commuting costs for most Peers and MPs.
- We will reduce the national debt by selling the castles back to the French.
I did hear of a proposal to ban greyhound racing (very Green!) on the grounds that it would help prevent the country's going to the dogs; sadly, this doesn't seem to have made it into the manifesto. Too late in every sense, perhaps.
