The State of the sector – 1

Posted in: Comment, News and Updates

The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), National Union of Students (NUS), University and College Union (UCU), the College Development Network (CDN), the Association of Colleges (AoC) and who knows what, have joined together and launched another survey on perceptions of sustainability in the sector.  You might remember that last year this was gloomy with missed carbon targets being the most prominent feature.  See this.

The report will not reveal any data about individual institutions but will seek to identify trends in perceptions on sustainability in the sector – I'm betting they'll be downwards.  If you want to complete it, the detail is here.

Meanwhile, I hear that the girls and boys at People 'n' Planet have put their toys back into the pram and are planning another green league table which will certainly identify institutions.  As P&P will only be drawing on data published by institutions, those in the know think that this will likely show, those that are routinely good at presenting themselves in a good light, in a good light.  Not so much a green league, then, as a PR one.
