A piem for pie day

Posted in: Comment, News and Updates

Pie day today.  Well, not "pie day" but π Day.  A day to celebrate all things to do with π.

And this is a piem (that should be πem, I guess):

Pie.

I wish I could determine pi

Eureka cried the great inventor

Christmas pudding Christmas pie

Is the problem’s very centre

Unlike me you'll have worked out that if you count the letters in each word, you’ll get 3.14159265358979323846, which is π to 20 decimal places.

I learned all this from The Conversation and I repeat it here as a bit of escapism from the gloom around us.  And to challenge myself to come up with a better sentence or verse.  It might be futile but, inspiringly, the first 10,000 digits of pi are captured in a book: Not A Wake.
