Polden development update

Posted in: Polden accommodation

Welcome to the ninth monthly update with news to keep you updated on the new Polden student accommodation project.

September has been an extremely busy month, with concrete continuing to be poured daily as the frame construction progresses at pace and the builders have all but finished the block closest to the entrance to the West Car Park.

All other areas of the concrete frame are now progressing quickly with the aim still to have most of the structural frame complete by Christmas.  The builders continue to liaise with the University Security department on all deliveries expected on the campus to minimise disruption as much as possible.

With the bathroom pod deliveries, ongoing we have now commenced with the internal fit-out stage with partitions being installed and forming of the corridors.  This will then be followed by the party walls enabling the bathroom pods to be positioned and the overall layouts established.

The first of the many window deliveries arrived on Monday 9 October with installation due to commence almost immediately after.

In the coming month, they shall continue to focus on the concrete frame but with a real focus on installing the external façade to enclose the structure.  This will give the team a weather-tight building to allow them to continue with the internal plaster-boarding trades.

As always, we do appreciate your patience and understanding whilst the construction work is ongoing, and we continue to work closely with the University Estates, AHS, and Security teams to minimise disruption as much as possible.

As with last month, below are a few photos of progress taken from one of our Tower Cranes.
