Welcome to the second update on the construction of the STV Gym Extension.
Over the last six weeks good progress has been made despite some unseasonal weather conditions. The building frame has been constructed, and the concrete plank floors are being lifted into place this week.
Externally, the access road has been widened between the Sports Hall and Edge Theatre and work has continued to the steps and ramp on the North Side of the Sports Hall.
During the coming month Melhuish & Saunders will be focused on focused on progressing the current work, with the roof and wall cladding systems being the next major phases on construction. The aim is to have the building weather tight by the end of May 2018.
Due to the compact nature of the site there is little room to store materials, which has generated a need for frequent deliveries, these deliveries will continue over the coming months and the construction team appreciates the understanding shown by the neighbouring University Faculties which have been affected by the traffic.
