Share your research at Salisbury Science Café

Posted in: Doing Public Engagement

Are you looking to share your research with a local audience in an open discussion and answer questions about your work? Then the Salisbury Science Café is for you!

A Science Café is a way of sharing your research which is a bit different to typical lecture or public talk. The focus is on group discussion where participants can explore your research, ask questions and give their thoughts about the topic. This is a great opportunity to understand how people think about your research and can lead to you developing better research questions, ideas or dissemination methods.

The format is usually a 50-60 minute talk, starting at 7.30pm followed by questions and a group discussion finishing at 9pm. The Café are open to other formats and have had a variety of alternatives from demonstrations, quizzes, stand up comedy and a 1 man play!

The audience is a committed group of friendly, engaged and enthusiastic individuals with a mix of ages. Audience size varies from 40 to over 100, with an average night seeing approximately 50 people in attendance.

The Science Café is taking place on the first Tuesday of each month at the Salisbury Rugby Club starting in February. Travel expenses will be covered by the Public Engagement Unit.
