Bath Spa train station weekend closures 8-9, 14-17 & 22-23 April

Posted in: Public transport, Travel Update

This Easter (8-23 April) Network Rail will be undertaking rail improvement work in the Bath area  impacting on the ability of GWR to operate the usual train service.

Network Rail will widen the platforms at Bath as part of the ongoing infrastructure works linked to the introduction of GWR’s new IET trains and electrification.

On the weekends of 8-9, 14-17 and 22-23 April Bath Spa will be closed.

There will be no trains between Bristol and Bath, Chippenham and Bath or Trowbridge and Bath.

Throughout the weekends buses will replace trains between Bath and Chippenham, Bristol, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Westbury and Frome. Stopping buses will serve Freshford and Westwood (for Avoncliff), Oldfield Park and Keynsham. A Castle Cary to Bristol service will also run to connect in/out of Weymouth line services which start/terminate at Westbury.

During the working week (April 10-13 and 18-21) only one platform will be available to run trains so a revised train service will operate with trains between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington via Bath and Chippenham will operating every hour.

Great Western Railway urge all customers to check travel arrangements by visiting www.gwr.com/Bath2017 and consider travelling on the Fridays and Mondays.

Information is available at all stations and on all journey planners.
