If the events of 2020 have taught us anything it is that changes within a system will cause disruptions and that these disruptions can have a major impact on society. But it is not only abrupt events such as global pandemics or natural disasters which can cause disturbance. Digitalisation, which has been playing out over a number of years, has the potential to radically change engineering research and practice: how it is conducted, the skills required, and the solutions produced. The theme of the 28th ISTE International Transdisciplinary Engineering Conference is the application of Transdisciplinary Engineering for resilience and responding to system disruptions.
