Ada Lovelace Day (ALD) is an international celebration of the achievements of women in STEM. It is held on the second Tuesday of October and aims to create new role models by increasing the profile of women in STEM.
We collaborated with the Women in Technology (WIT) to plan an Ada Lovelace Day conference where we had speakers from Bloomberg, Newton Europe, Scott Logic and GitHub. We had a great turnout of motivated engineering and science students.
The topics of the talks included working with artificial intelligence, working in operational consultancy, the importance of testing in software development and the importance of negotiating job offers. Following the talks, we had a panel discussion where we discussed bouncing back after rejections, standing out, transferrable skills and work-life balance.
Overall it was an inspiring evening that everyone enjoyed. We would like to thank WIT for doing most of the planning, and we look forward to future collaborations.
