New gaming product - New ZX Spectrum

Posted in: Equipment, News

Does anyone remember the start of the home computer market in the 1980's?
It's been announced this week that the ZX Spectrum is going to make a comeback!

Although it will not work the same way as the old computer, this version will act more like a games console. This version will be called the Sinclair Spectrum Vega, and should be available from April.

It will take advantage of advances in technology to achieve big cost savings by replacing most of the electronics in the earlier computer products. Instead the Vega uses a low cost micro-controller and a clever piece of software that combine to enable the Vega to run all of the games, 14,000 or more of them, which were developed during the years when some 5 million of the original Sinclair Spectrum were being sold.

It looks to be a great take on an old product. In addition to this, it will be made in Nottinghamshire by SMS Electronics.
