Giving Higher Education the Digital Edge

Posted in: Event

Billboards that produce clean drinking water, leaflets with chips in which interact with posters, interactive games which compare you to the rest of the country, and video selfies are just some of the creative ideas which came out of the 'Giving Higher Education the Digital Edge' event held by VeInteractive in London earlier this month.

With a range of speakers from the digital sector, including Jim Tudor from FutureIndex, Paul Cernicharo – Terol from The Student Room, James MacGregor from YouthSight, and VeInteractives' own Dan Cons, it was really interesting to tap into some of the big digital marketing questions facing Higher Education and some of the simple solutions to solving fundamental problems.

The two main things which I took from it regarding research marketing were;

1. The top 10 marketing trends at the moment and how we can adapt our campigns here at the Uni of Bath to make full use of the tools on offer; personalisation, real time, billboard impact, influence, video selfies, livestream, remote control, virtual tours, instant social media and interactive games.

2. Identifying areas contributing to potential drop off rates when people engage with our research online - such as slow load time, poor navigation and unresponsive designs, as well as using the audience to engage and potentially contribute to research in interactive ways.

So keep your eyes peeled for some interesting new research marketing ideas coming to Bath soon. And we're definitely doing something right as we got a shout out during the panel discussion where this very blog was celebrated as an example of good practice in the sector!
