Site manager, Firhan Rudorf-Saeed is on site throughout the working day and should be the first point of contact for any issues.
The contractors are holding weekly meetings with the users of Building 4SA and attend the monthly University contractors meeting in order to keep staff and students informed of the works and to give as much notice of any potential disruption.
They are in constant liaison with the University Estates Department and also University Security with regard to any issues that may arise where there is a public interface.
Signs have been added to the perimeter of our site hoarding to give site contact details and directions for pedestrians.
In terms of site works - the process of excavating the ground to lower levels to install foundations continues - unfortunately, the noisy works involving the removal of rock are still ongoing.
The noise and vibration is intermittent throughout the working day and will take us into mid-April. The excavated material is being removed from site by haulage lorries and this is now approximately 75% complete. The road conditions are constantly being monitored and a road sweeper is being utilised when required.
Both the new water connection to Building 4SA and the works to excavate an electricity trench from site to the substation opposite the car park have been completed.
Moving forward, the groundworks are progressing well. The works are a combination of excavating, mass concrete pours, installation of prefabricated steel beams and building of retaining walls to produce a finished ground floor slab ready for the steel frame erection just after Easter.
