School of Management Building Project Update: January 2020

Posted in: School of Management

Welcome to the first of our monthly project updates where we aim to keep you up to speed on progress at the School of Management Building project.

The build team has been working well to establish the site, with site offices now installed and new routes for both pedestrian and vehicle access.

The team also made good progress on the reinforced concrete frame prior to the Christmas break. We’ve come back in the New Year having completed the successful concrete pour of the Level 1 lecture theatre and columns on Level 0. In addition, we finished the pour of the first of two large concrete beams that will support the upper stories of the building.

We’re currently establishing the framework to support the Level 1 floor along with prepping the second supporting beam for its upcoming concrete pour. We’re also seeing the first stages of preparation of the columns on Level 1 to 2.

Looking ahead, we’ll continue with the construction of the reinforced concrete frame before the main groundworks to the Pavilion area start in early February.

We are also planning works to the basement area that will see the start of blockwork, waterproofing and the first of the stairs installed.

The School of Management Building site is always changing and Bouygues UK continue to work closely with the University to ensure minimal disruption to the campus.
