Welcome to your monthly progress update on the School of Management project at the University of Bath.
The site continues to change daily and good progress has been made since the last issue of this newsletter. As new works phases commence, the team on site continues to grow with the addition of new supply chain members.
This is an exciting time for the project as the reinforced concrete frame has almost been completed and work has recently started on the façade.
The frame is now in its final position on site with all main slabs complete through to roof level. This comes following the complete install of pre-cast stairs to core 01 and 03 allowing the final roof slab coverings to be closed out. The team is also well underway with installing pre-cast stair units to core 02 following the install of supporting secondary steelwork. The frame is entering finishing stages with final plinths and upstands being poured and snagging in progress.
Further to completing the metal deck and installing reinforcement, another key milestone has been achieved with the team finishing the pour for the pavilion roof deck. This has opened up new works areas allowing work to start on shuttering and pouring of upstands to the roof, which will form the skylight openings. Underneath the roof deck, groundworks are well underway, levelling and stoning the area in preparation for reinforcement to form the ground floor slab.
At level zero, the first of the architectural staircases have been installed with the stair 5 structure complete. The area is now taking shape and preparation works are underway for the install of the full height stair 4. Works have started with the installation of the first fix framing to the north elevation at level one.
To the north elevation we have also recently installed the material hoist which will support the logistics and access plans for the works going forward. Preparation works to facilitate the upcoming install of mast climbers for the façade package have also been completed.
In the basement blockwork is being closed out and the final plinths to support the plant equipment are currently being installed.
