Review of 2018

Posted in: General News

It’s been another busy year for Omnibus! We are pleased to report that the number of Omnibus members is steadily rising and the number of clubs affiliated to us expanding. This year we have been lucky enough to welcome staff football, volleyball, board games and craft clubs to join the badminton, petanque and book clubs already under the Omnibus umbrella. Congratulations in particular to the Omniboules team who reached the finals of the local league.

The Theatre group is also going strong with trips to see the Rat Pack, Sherlock Holmes: the Final Curtain, Iolanthe, the Nightingales and Rambert this year, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Our “Above and Below” tours of the Roman Baths continued to be very popular, with spaces booked up almost immediately on announcement. Likewise we have had well attended day outings to Cardiff, Windsor and Stratford-upon-Avon. Luckily the sun shined on us for all of the latter!

We are already looking ahead to 2019. Members will be delighted to hear that we shall be resurrecting the extremely popular Omnibus Quiz in the Inter-semester break and we are already making plans for days out over the Spring and Summer. The fight for a dedicated staff space also continues. Watch this space!

As always, we are always open to ideas for places to visit, suggestions of other activities and offers of help. We are a small team but committed to providing opportunities for members of staff to meet and have fun; if you want to join us in our endeavours, you would be very welcome!
