Have a go Bowls June 2019

Despite the rain last night ‘Have a go ‘Bowls’ still went ahead, even though we didn’t get to play on the green (unlike the ladies county champions match which did)!  We still learnt how to hold a bowl, the difference between forehand and backhand deliveries, how points are scored and what happens when your bowl goes in the ditch. We practiced in the club house delivering the bowl to the jack, albeit at a much shorter distance than on the green. Danny was on hand to offer advise and encouragement and we were soon understanding how the bowl would roll and fall. Each of us managed to win a shot on the jack, sometimes knocking out another’s bowl, sometimes giving them the winning point. We then enjoyed the social side of the club, reasonably priced drinks and hotdogs with fried onions as well as playing a few games of dominoes and coming third in the mini quiz. An enjoyable night was had by all, we are looking forward to going up to Alexander Park Bowls Club again and trying our new skills on the actual green.

Alexander Park Bowls Club hold free practice nights every Monday between April and September starting at 6:30pm anyone is welcome to pop up and have a go.
