This week, with just seven days to go before the deadline for contact collection, I’m pleased to contribute to this blog to highlight the benefit, for our research, of having a strong position in the QS World University Rankings.
These rankings are an important indicator of our global reputation, and strong performance can bring significant benefits for our research community.
For example, a strong global ranking can better enable us to partner with other universities conducting world-leading research. This will allow us to collaborate with others, and can facilitate greater access to knowledge, facilities, and resources. A strong ranking also allows us to operate on a global scale and engage in exciting international research collaborations. Potential partners and collaborators, from both industry and educational settings, often look to these rankings for context, and a higher ranking makes us a more attractive partnership prospect.
Nominating is straightforward
This year we have introduced a new streamlined process to make uploading contacts quick and easy. Simply click on the submission form below and add in your contact information.
QS Academic Contact Collection Form
You do not need to seek consent as we have a formal process in place to do this. Your contacts will not be submitted to QS unless they have agreed.
We are asking you to nominate any academic contacts you are happy to share by Friday 28 October. Contacts will be approached for their consent in November and December prior to submission to QS in January.
All of the contacts you might share are of equal value, including Early Career Researchers. This means we can be inclusive whatever stage of their career, or experience, however international contacts do carry a higher weighting.
For more information on how QS uses your contact information, as well as example sources of contacts please refer to Professor Philip Allmendinger's blog.
Further help and support
The International Relations Office has the expertise and data to help you navigate the contact collection process if you require further guidance and support or you can reach out to your ADI.
With one week to go until our contact collection deadline, there's still time to submit your contacts and help us ensure our QS World Ranking truly reflects the international excellence of the research you produce here at Bath. I would really appreciate everyone playing their part.
