School of Management Project Update - February 2020

Posted in: School of Management

Welcome to the monthly update focused on keeping you up to speed on progress being made on the new School of Management building project.

Since the last monthly update, the team continues to push the assembly of the reinforced concrete frame with a number of successful concrete pours.

East and west wings

Core walls have been erected on level zero in the east wing and the team has also progressed the floor slab in the west wing, along with the erection of core walls and columns on level one. These works have enabled them to progress to level two where they have started on the decking required to pour the slab in the knuckle area.

North and east elevation

To the north elevation the team has started the main groundworks and completed the level zero external waterproofing. They’ve now started to install the waterproofing membrane around the knuckle area and east elevation. Internally, they are finishing off the first of the waterproofing to basement level which will enable them to start putting the internal structures in place.

In the coming weeks they will also start on the drainage and foundation works to the pavilion area.

Progress is being made on detailed design for the internal fit out of the building and the team on site is expanding with the addition of further subcontractors on board, most recently the ground works, and mechanical and electrical subcontractors.

As always, the School of Management site continues to change on a daily basis and Bouygues continues to work closely with University of Bath to ensure minimal disruption during this period.
