8W Project Update - 2 June 2015

📥  Design Build Advise, Interesting, News, Projects, Spaces

TheĀ  8W refurbishment continues at some pace. We should be having Level 2 rooms handed back to us late on Friday evening.

There are some changes in the rooms:

All the rooms will be fully HD and Widescreen.
All the rooms will have new controllers, lecterns, visualisers, and screens.

There has also been an upgrade to all of the wiring infrastructure in the rooms - so we should be much better placed for future operations.

Lecture Capture Upgrade - Downtime Coming

📥  News, Systems

Panopto, who provide our lecture capture platform, have recently announced that they will be upgrading our Re:View platform on:

Saturday, May 30 - from 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.

Panopto will upgrade our version from 4.8 to 4.9.

This means that our server will be offline for a small time. During this time, it will not be possible to access recordings on the server, and any attempts to upload from recorder clients will result in a "Server unable to connect" message. Recordings will still be made though, and will make it to upload later.
Full details of the upgrade are available directly from Panopto:

As ever, we will keep a close watch on this to make sure there is minimal disruption.

Looking back - History of Sony

📥  Equipment, Interesting

We've noticed recently that there have been some profiles of several established companies published on Gizmodo.

The recent release of the Sony profile makes interesting reading, showing off several bits of technology that have become ubiquitous.
