Cooking up a storm this week

Posted in: Bars and eateries, Students

We all know how important it is to eat well in order to feel well, so our hospitality team ran some cooking classes this week, as part of Be Well Week.

Even though many students have been living away from home for some time now, there’s always new culinary skills to be learned!

The free 45 minute sessions were run in Fountain Canteen, by Fin Tucker, Chef de Partie.

Fin demonstrated how to cook spaghetti and make a basic sauce.

Everyone was then treated to a meal of spaghetti and meatballs, with roasted vegetables, salad and garlic bread.

All sessions were fully booked, with students commenting that they learnt how:

“A number of different dishes can be made from one recipe. The chef gave us a lot of useful tips e.g. how much salt to put in the water.”

“How easy it is to take time out to cook and eat healthy.”

“How to mix sauce and pasta like a real Italian!”

There were also requests for more classes, for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, so watch this space…
