FeedbackFruits Pilot
FeedbackFruits is a platform that provides a range of different types of assessment and feedback activities, integrated into Moodle
We started a pilot of FeedbackFruits in Semester 2 of academic year 2022/3 and although the feedback was positive, there wasn’t sufficient feedback to enable us to fully evaluate the effectiveness of the tool. We have therefore extended the pilot, which will last until the summer of 2024, and hope to engage with more staff willing to try it out.
The functionality that we feel is particularly of interest is the ability to build in feedback activities to common student submission activities. Students can receive feedback via rubrics, scale rating or via comments alone. Students can comment on their feedback, or rate it, providing valuable data to help teachers understand where misapprehensions are occurring. Additionally, it is also possible to build in reflective activities, so that students are directed to think about and process their feedback before moving on.
Attend an introductory workshop
If you’re interested to know more about Peer Review (students assessing each other's work) and Group Member Evaluation (students assessing each other's performance in a task), please join us for an hour-long, online workshop on 11 October 2023 at 2PM. Come and ask questions.
Be inspired
For some inspiration, you can visit the FeedbackFruits 'learning journey's' library, which sets out some some common workflows for assessment designs. You can search by pedagogy, learning outcomes or prep time.
You can listen to Dr Lucy Noble, Director of Teaching in HSS, talk about her experience of using the Peer Review tool, which lets students assess the work of their peers using a rubric.
Find out more about the tools
And you can read more about the tool and how to use it in our guidance on the Teaching Hub.
If you have questions about the tool or the pilot please contact Yvonne Moore (Digital Education Developments Lead) in the Technology Enhanced Learning Team.
