Assessment and Feedback

Following on from wholly virtual EduFest events in past years, as the pandemic shifts we are excited to be holding our two-day event as both an in-person EduFest networking event and a virtual day of EduFest talks and discussion. To get an idea of what to expect from the event, please view last year's EduFest here.

Debates around the purpose and design of assessments are not new, but the last two years in particular have provided an opportunity to move away from traditional models of both assessment and feedback.  Having transitioned into different forms of online and blended teaching, learning and assessment, we have an opportunity to reflect on how we can learn and develop as we move forwards.

Networking Event – Monday 9th May 2022

Our networking event ahead of the event will provide an opportunity to connect with colleagues and new people to discuss pertinent issues and opportunities within assessment and feedback. This is a chance to circulate and explore topics in a round table talk as well as finding out more about VIPs at the University, Teaching Development Fund, National Teaching Awards, PedR and fellowship. There will also be an informal lunch to catch up!

EduFest (virtual) – Tuesday 10th May 2022

The online EduFest event will involve a talk from our guest speaker, William Houstoun, as he explores the relationship between magic and assessment. There will be a debate session where individuals can openly discuss and give ideas as to how to improve assessment and feedback, which we hope will prove an interesting discussion, particularly across departments and teams. It is also a great opportunity to hear from those who have carried out research in the area and to ask questions for future development within the University.

We hope you will enjoy both events and leave feeling inspired having gained new knowledge and some ideas for how to develop and improve your own approach to assessment and feedback.
